Traditional Thailand Dresses Photoshoot

This weekend, we attended a wedding ceremony for a couple of our friends who we met here in Phichit.  They had their wedding in Bangkok, but as you can see, we had to have a little photo shoot after we got back, because these dresses were just to pretty not to be worn more than once.  And they were indeed worn once, for about 10 minutes because the moment we stepped into the room where the ceremony was taking place, we realized, we may have been overdressed, and didn't want to outshine the bride with our brightly colored dresses and such, so we quickly changed into regular church clothes.

These are just a couple pictures detailing what most women would wear to a wedding, and the sort of dress that was worn throughout the history of Thailand.  The dresses are very intricate, beautiful, and downright uncomfortable.  I see no practicality in them, but they are, as you can see, so pretty! So it doesn't really matter all that much.

In front of the school.  it was very bright!

I couldn't quite get the hand poses down.  You should see the ladies here do it, the way that they bend their hands and fingers looks so unnatural but it's so pretty and graceful! e.g the example below (I didn't take this picture)

All of us teachers in front of the school.

I was trying to be a goofy model, and it actually turned out to be my favorite picture!

I was kinda proud of my editing on here, gonna brag for a bit :)

Gotta say, I felt like such a princess!

Me and Jessica! Love this girl!

Aren't they just the cutest?

Me and Tang, the schools coordinator.  She works so hard!

It was so neat to wear these traditional dresses, learn how to tie them, attempt to walk in them (that was awfully tricky), and just feel beautiful basking in this exotic and very detailed culture.  I am so grateful for this opportunity!

Super Smile!
