Traditional Thai Dancers Festival

One quiet tuesday night, Tang told us that if we wanted something to do, there was a traveling Traditional Thai dance group coming through Phichit and we could go see it if we wanted.  Well, we never really pass a chance to get out and see something new, so out we went! And what an experience it was! We got there and there was a huge stage set up with a bunch of chairs set up with quite a lot of people already there.  But before the performers came out, they had two guys up in the front shining a huge spotlight on some people in the crowd and interviewing them.  Well, it was only a matter of time before they saw the group of white girls and decided to shine the huge ol' spotlight on them! We were just chillin' waiting for the show to start, and all of the sudden we hear them speaking english! They were saying "hello! Where you from" and we were all like, are they talking to us? They came over and started asking us all these questions...but in Thai! So were just sitting there, not knowing what in the world is going on, while these two interviewer guys jabber away in thai.  The crowd would laugh  and they would stick the microphone in my face like I was able to answer their questions and I'm just like, "no thai, I don't speak thai"

Eventually, I got enough english out of them to understand that they wanted me to come up to the front of the stage with them! They guys are still jabbering away in thai and the crowd is laughing at things they were saying and I'm like, what they heck, and head up to the front with him.  The guy who was up on the stage spoke a bit more english and I got a couple things that he was saying like "you know the demon god (enter obscure thai name here)? and I was like huh...no?  And then he asked me about different dances and more characters in the thai dances and basically I just stood up there and shook my head cause even though he was speaking a bit of english, I still have no idea what they were talking about haha but they gave me a teddy bear so it was a pretty fun experience :)
Up front being interviewed in front of everyone

This was the thai dance.  It was really cool! The costumes, dances and music were really traditional.  It was very slow at the beginning though.

We kinda, maybe, snuck backstage to see if we could get a picture with some of the people in their costumes and we got a picture with the main character in the dance.  He was pretty tall!

the costumes and makeup were so awesome!

Here is a bit of a movie clip from the dance.  It is very thai haha.

All in all, quite a wonderful night! We had some people just come up behind us and smile and it took us a while to realize that their friend was taking a picture of them with us haha.  We saw a couple of our students from school all well with their parents and that's always fun to see them outside of school.
Thailand is without a doubt the coolest place ever!

"Super Smile!"
