Saturday Bike Ride

Phichit is a small town so it doesn't take long for us to get outside of the city limits.  Like 5 minutes really.  Which makes for some very pretty scenic bike rides.  When we have a free day that were not traveling or teaching, exploring is usually a pretty good option.  We see so many incredible things.  There are tons and tons of storks here, they all hang out by the many swamps and ponds.  And along with all the swamps and ponds come lots of Lotus flowers.  The Lotus is actually the flower of Thailand.  The people here use them for lots of things.  First of all they, fold them up into really intricate designs and hold them while they are praying in temples and such.  They offer them to monks and leave them as offerings in the temples.  they also eat the seeds and cook them in lots of different ways.  The pod that the seeds come in are also used as food.

P.S, these two aren't my pictures, I just didn't have a picture of any lotus flowers.

These are mine though :)
The pink things are the lotus flowers and you can see a crane off to the left.  The scenery in Thailand is seriously second to none.

I love all the palm trees here! I feel like I am in the tropics! Wait a minute, I am!

I am not getting any more tan since being here which is unfortunate since I am living in this tropical area.  But hopefully that will change on our trip to Phuket this next weekend! So excited!
